Movie Review: Sherlock Holmes

Elementary my dear Watson. Oh wait, I don’t think that was said at any time during this awesome movie starring the always entertaining Robert Downey Jr. and as his sidekick Dr. Watson, Jude Law, can’t say I know much about him, haven’t seen a lot of his movies.

The movie starts off quickly (which I love) with Holmes sneaking in the shadows of London, we have no idea what’s going on, but everyone is hooked just from the great set-up.

Next we are treated into a glimpse of the powerful intellect oh Holmes, I won’t tell you how, but it’s impressively done, with very cool results.

We are treated to more of these moments throughout the movie, each one a unique and awesome view into the mind of this compelling character.

But enough about Holmes, how about a story synopsis?

The movie is set in London during the time the Tower Bridge is under construction (1890’s). A lord whom has convinced most of the population that he is a powerful user of black magic, is killing innocent girls for sacrifice for his dark arts. He is caught by Holmes and Watson at te beginning of the movie and sentenced to hang. He is pronounced dead by Watson himself, but all is not what it seems, Blackwood is seen alive shortly after, apparantly back from the grave. Holmes is on the case, and Holmes doesn’t believe in magic.

How did Blackwood survive, and how is he “magically” making anyone who opposes him cease to exist is seemingly impossible to discover. This is the challenge Holmes has been waiting for.

I highly reccomend this movie to anyone that enjoys a movie that keeps them guessing, and enjoys and good fight (did I mention Holmes put
his renowned boxing to good use?)

Kudos to you Guy Ritchie, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would be proud.
